Master Lawrence started training in the Martial Arts at the age of 6.
He began his training with Grand Master Dennis Ichikawa in 1989.
After acquiring his Black Belt in American Tang Soo Do,
he continued his training with Master Taejoon Lee
studying the ancient art of Hwa Rang Do.
As a result of Master Lee's rigorous training,
Master Lawrence competed nationally in open Martial Arts tournaments
Attaining top national ranking in both open and traditional forms competition.
Master Lawrence’s belief that a true Martial Artist must excel in the both the beauty and grace
found in forms as well as the practical self defense in fighting led him to kickboxing and boxing.
He trained under world champions such as
Peter "Sugarfoot" Cunningham at Mark Parra's House of Champions.
Freddy Roach at Wild Card boxing gym
(training along with such champions as Michael Moore and Lucia Richker) Muay Thai fighting.
Trained by Richard Batin led to an amateur kickboxing record of
10-0-0 capturing two amateur title belts.
Master Lawrence attained the rank of Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do
and represented California in the World Junior Olympics of 1998.
During his intense training
Master Lawrence opened his first Martial Arts program at the age of 14 "King of the Hill Karate".
His program thrived for 4 years until he moved back to the Los Angeles area and opened
Quest Martial Arts in the fall of 2001.
In 2004 he moved to his new location in
Reseda with a state of the art 2500 square ft. training facility.
Master Lawrence's passion and love for the Martial Arts
has led him to devote his time to working with children and adults.
He wishes to teach the true meaning of martial arts. |
